A long time coming, but I just have to say that being a Native New Yorker, I had to dine here at least once. That being said, I was not disappointed.

I have had steaks that for the most part, that were really good. The real star here, is the setting. An old boys' club of a New York institution in the heart of the financial district, we were just happy to be here. Beautiful murals line the walls of the dining room, giving the impression I was in a special place.

Their claim to fame, among others, is the baked Alaska. As pretty as it is, almost a shame to have eaten it.  Delmonico's is saidto have introduced it to celebrate the US completing the Alaska purchase.

Some things never change, and shouldn't.

Restaurant week is a great time to give places like this a try, my friend & I decided to stop by & check it out.
We had our rsvp came in & had no issues being seated, once seated we asked our waiter for a suggestion with some wine, we went with a bottle of white not bad a Chardonnay I believe? it was good.
Limited menu for restaurant week appetizers we tried the Burrata & tomato, very good the burrata practically melts in your mouth & the Pasta small dish, good pasta nice taste.
Main dishes we had the Filet Mignon , cooked well very good great flavor to the meat & the Chicken w some veggies & pasta, oven baked chicken nice taste. on the Dessert we went with the Baked alaska seems to be a favorite here can see why it was delicious & the Cheesecake good cheesecake.
Great looking restaurant u feel like u are stepping back in time, old world type decor, service was good to begin with seems like they forgot about us after not fun to feel rushed through your meal & then have to wait forever to get the check, price wise good for restaurant week definitely on the high side otherwise, we enjoyed our meal it was worth giving it a try.

I was very excited to visit this restaurant as it was my first time visiting Manhattan and I had heard from multiple sources that Delmonico's was one of the best steakhouses in the city! My girlfriend and I were celebrating our 2 year anniversary and I thought this restaurant would be the perfect choice for us to celebrate our anniversary at. I called the restaurant in advance to inform them of our anniversary and book a reservation and I was told by the hostess they would notate our special day on the reservation. Unfortunately we were never wished a happy anniversary by the staff, offered no champagne or dessert, or even provided with quality service. Our server rarely visited our table to check on us and took quite some time to come and take our dinner order. When I have visited other steakhouses on special occasions the very least they do is wish you a happy birthday, anniversary, etc. and/or give you a glass of champagne to celebrate, this restaurant did nothing unfortunately.

Ok to the food. The steak I ordered was actually quite good! I ordered the Delmonico Steak and it was very large and full of great flavor. The server informed me that they wet age the steak for 28 days and I thought it was one of the best pieces of meat I had eaten. The Delmonico's potatoes we had ordered were extremely tasty and the wedge salad was outstanding! The portions here are quite generous so no need to order a bunch of food if it is just for two people because you won't finish it!  While the food here is incredible the quality of service needs to match that. I am not asking for a parade when I come in the door but at the very least wishing someone a happy birthday or anniversary should be a priority. The prices are very good for what you're getting.

How could it be? Another summer almost in the books. So, it was time for our annual steakhouse luncheon with our son before he returns to school. We started this tradition years ago. Two trips to City Hall, now out of business, Lugers, Sparks, Charlie Palmer Steak and Smith and Wollensky.

We arrived early for our 12:30 reservation and were seated promptly at a nice table affording a beautiful view of the spectacular dining room and murals.

Some sauvignon blanc and Syrah to get started along with Delmonico's excellent bread service. Decent pours. We skipped appetizers and went to the main event. Two dry aged bone in rib eyes, rare and medium rare. Tuna for my wife, prepared as the chef desires, rare to medium rare. Sides? Hash browns, fries, sautéed spinach. The tuna was served with charred corn, fava beans and a crab stuffed zucchini flower.

Although I did not detect the funk associated with a dry aged slab of beef, I thought it was a delicious, exceedingly tender, well cooked piece of meat. My son thought the same. The onion strings on top of the steak were superfluous. Cold, probably sitting around a while. Fries were epic. Spinach hit the spot. I don't eat many veggies, but I always eat my spinach so long as it is well prepared. Hash browns were in the form of a large cake. It was very, very dry and bland. Served with creme freche and caramelized onions, I suppose the proper way to eat them is to mix everything up. I dislike creme freche. Next time, I'll order the fries.

My wife's tuna was a thing of beauty. Very tasty and well thought out accompaniments as described above.

Service was outstanding. We are easy customers. No questions. No onerous requests. We study the menu before we arrive. Good spacing to the meal. Only issue was when clearing, someone asked my son if was "still picking." Those words should never be uttered in a fine dining establishment. Save that for Chilie's.

Dessert was delicious. Lemon semifredo, chocolate mousse with cashew ice cream and a nut brittle of some kind. Excellent coffee and espresso.

My son summed up the experience thusly. "I don't see the reason to go elsewhere." He may be right. Only time will tell.

I've had this place bookmarked for an eternity. My office is just a few blocks away-- so I thought this was the perfect place to meet up with some friends I haven't seen  in years.

Delmonico's is an old school style steakhouse.i expected the place to be packed--but it wasn't, I expected the place to be stuffy and packed with old people, but it wasn't. What it was, a great steakhouse with a very attentive staff, who go above and beyond for their customers.

As a group, we had the following items:

Filet Mignon (9.5- very well seasoned and tender)
    Newberg Salad--(8.5)
    Tomato Burrata
Cheesecake--10/10- excellent! I wanted to go for the famed Baked Alaska, but for some reason, when I saw my friend order this, I decided I needed to order one for myself. Definitely was very pleased with it.

As I stated, the service was excellent, the waiter came over several times to check on us, without being annoying or burdensome. He assisted us with a great white wine choice.

I'd definitely return here for a business lunch--hopefully sometime in the near future.
